Trophy Wife - Microlite

This is trophy wife, a beautiful band that are creeping their way up the Indie ladder. Their debut EP "The Quiet Earth" stunned indie lovers with it's moving, defined and soft beats. A calm and considered band that are destined for great things. Watch the rather ominous video story that accompanies it, it's oddly exquisite.

Whitey - Count Those Freaks

I was hesitant to post those at first, it's a little out there, but it's not so often you come across a tantalizing melody of new indie Jazz! This just has to be heard! From the sproadic melody jumping jazzy melody to the modern whispery and slightly twisted sounds produced by "Whitey" - just releasing his debut album Canned Laughter. Count those freaks, we're completely outnumbered. It's genius.

Makes me want to...
Grab my tophat and cane, swing dance and waltz down an abandoned alley in the dead of night while shadows bounce all over the walls.

Darkstar - Aidy's Girl's a Computer

Here's some new techno loving beats, courtesy of the rising Dark stars "Darkstar". A supremely Electronic glitching sound fresh from the debut album "North". For all you underground electro lovers, this is for you. And don't worry, despite it's computery feel it still comes off as very summery and light listening pleasure!

Makes me want to...
Get lost in a 8 bit computer game with living Binary 1's and 0's raving around me.

Sleep Tight - Rollerskaters

This is Sleep Tight by Rollerskaters, a certainly cute little indie song with a plodding melodic and catchy beat. Pretty damn unknown, these guys have a spark going for them that you can't help but like. This has quickly become one of my "must plays" on any indie playlist! Like the melody, but looking for something a bit more energetic? Check out this damn slick remix by "Starlinger": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-UQadz7dog It's so perfect I might even prefer it to the original.

Makes me want to...
Cuddle up to my partner with a big mug of hot chocolate and watch old movies on VHS tapes.

Jamie XX - NY Is Killing Me

I'm not posting this so much for the musical find, though I absolutely adore both Jamie XX's insane remixing skills and Gil's pure talent. I'm posting this because a great man died today, Gil Scott-Heron, a poetic genius and "bluesology" master. A man who dedicated his life to exposing political truths in musical ways, recently releasing an album called "I'm new here" which was thoughtfully remixed by Jamie XX in a dazzling electronic way, have a listen. This is a tribute to him, Gil Heron-Scott and al he has contributed to the creative scene.

Forest Fire - Fortune Teller

This is forest fire, an unsigned act that are gaining some significant momentum on the internet scene. Already making an appearence as (no less than) the first track on the popular indie album (and my personal favourite) "Rought Trade/Counter Culture 09" I can see a bright future for these guys. They have a raw, distinct and pure sound. Summery and cool, Forest Fire are one to watch!

Warpaint - Undertow

Though perhaps not the most unknown band, it's something you have to hear, this all-female band are really hitting it big in the indie scene with their dreamy and floaty sound that submerges you into another realm of Psychedelic peace, I find this sleepy song to be utterly relaxing. Already appearing on Jools Holland and lined up for tours across the world, Warpaint are expected to make it big.
